How do our Murder Mysteries work?
Our performances are split into two parts of the evening; A period of performance, where our cast will re-enact the events leading up to the death and you will be able to interact with them as you please through this period, and a period of interview where you can now take on the role of detective and our cast will be available to answer any questions. Participants can also feel free to go over clues amongst themselves or with our cast.
At the end of the evening guests have the opportunity to cast their votes for who they think the true killer is, and one person will be chosen at the end to win a small prize.
Each evening typically lasts between 60-90 minutes and culminates with our true killer revealing themself as well as their motive, and prizes being distributed.
The Death Day Players
From 2016-2019 we produced themed murder mysteries with a troupe called the Death Day Players. Many of the past shows are produced using this format.
The Death Day Players are troupe of ghosts who travel around performing the night of their death for living audiences. Audience members are invited to interact with our players as they take on characters from the Ghost of the Evening's death. For those just wishing to be onlookers, the amount of interaction is up to you.
Past Murder Mysteries
Performed in January of 2020, Scientific Method invited it’s audience to the fifth grade science fair to witness the death of the meanest teacher this side of the Mississippi, Miss Dirk. While the death by students may have been accidental, who’s to say she doesn’t deserve it? Let’s just say the students in her class aren’t exactly sad that she’s gone. What’s better than a science experiment gone wrong… or did it go right? Photo by J. Bash Photography.
Presented for guests at CONjuration 2019, this show invited attendees into the Wizarding World circa 1999 with the staff of St. Mungo’s dealing with the aftermath of a Halloween riot. During the chaos, everyone is overwhelmed, but none more than the head of St. Mungo’s, Rowan Brand. A work driven and blackmail prone witch whose victims have had enough.
In August of 2019, guests were once again invited to the Carnival of Wonder, this time they found your normal, stereotypical carnival, promised magical creatures that could be debunked for normal ones and rigged games that you could try if you wanted to lose some money. The one constant was Madame Mystique and her shady contracts. In this version, someone got a little fed up and stashed her body away in the magician’s coffin.
Guests at CONjuration 2018 were invited into the Wizarding World to attend the Carnival of Wonder, a magical carnival full of curious beasts and fun games run by the cunning Madame Mystique. Famous for it’s miniature dragons, the Carnival of Wonder holds it’s place in the carnival scene by employing the best of the best, locked into lengthy contracts by Mystique. Things get a little heated when some people want to break their contracts.
Performed in September of 2018, this show invited the audience back in time to November 1st, 1871. A Halloween party for the house staff of a wealthy family in a world where the Elder Gods are real and cults worship Cthulhu. 11 year old Gracey has picked out a spooky story from a book in the library, but others are worried she has found a book that she should not know about, and that knowledge means she needs to be dealt with.
Presented at the Orlando Fringe Festival in May of 2018, Patron’s Pick… for Murder gave guests a peek at an exaggerated day in the life of a Fringe Performer. Many of your favorite stereotypical Fringe guests could be seen among the cast; the Superfan, the Critic, the Competition, and many more. This show featured a different, actual, Fringe artist every show in the starring role: Victim.
Performed in February of 2018, An Earnest Heart told the story of the young socialite, Clara White, an heiress to a fine fortune who was being courted by Lord Ernest Bray, a dashing young gentleman who needs a rich wife to save his family estate. Guests were transported back to an evening in 1907, where they experienced Miss Clara’s final hours at a Valentine’s Day soiree hosted at Hensley Court, Lord Bray’s estate in Devonshire.
Guests at CONjuration 2017 were invited, via portkey, to the 1987 concert for famed wizarding band, Dementor’s Kiss. Jules Wood, close friend of the band, and young quidditch star has gotten her friends VIW (Very Important Wizard) tickets for the show. Everything always came easy for Jules, and jealousy was the spark for hatred that turned deadly. Did her friends in the band turn on her, or had her old school friends finally had enough?
In August of 2017, guests were invited to the Back-to-School dance at Westview High. Donna Jean Parker is a shoe-in to be crowned Autumn Queen, but not everyone is a fan of this young socialite with a knack for putting others down to bring herself up. With a poison crown as her downfall, which of her disgruntled classmates had the smarts to pull off such a plot?
February of 2017 brought Renald Decruex’s Murder to audiences in Orlando. We were introduced to the Krewe of Hecate’s Centennial Three Brother’s Grimm Lundi Gras Parade and Ball in the Heart of a magical version of New Orleans. Tensions ran high as two new groups were being allowed to become members of the Krewe, but was the killer a member of the new factions or someone already very close to Renald?
Our very first Death Day Mystery took place for guests at CONjuration in November of 2016. Amelia Olsen is an up and coming magizoologist studying the properties of a widely hated venomous 3-headed snake and has gotten herself an invite to a party with a famed Magizoologist to try and discuss her research. Can she make an impression before someone tries to kill her with venom from her own specimen?

In February of 2023 we welcomed people to the first meeting of the Bleeding Hearts Club for 2023. It is a place for people to come and find good pairs for various holiday or party gatherings where dates are expected. The failing club has made a large push to get new members, and this first meeting of 2023 has tensions running high for some existing members and their matches. Will this club end the night living up to its name?
